7 ways to hone your body (and mind) at HubSpot INBOUND 2023 | Census

Boston is an athletic city through and through — from professional sporting excellence (go Pats!) to the state’s shared love for Marathon Monday, you’ll find no shortage of fitness enthusiasts here. I’m excited to return to my home city for INBOUND 2023 at the Boston Convention Center (BCEC). Census is sponsoring and you’ll catch a few of us hitting Fan Pier for a morning run on any given day.

As a budding gym rat, nothing gets my day going like a good sweat session in the morning. At the same time, nothing ruins my day like having to skip my workout because I’m traveling. To help you avoid the same no-workout malaise, here are some of my favorite tried and true workout spots in the Seaport.

Running up that hill

The best part about visiting a city that’s almost 400 years old? You’ll never run out of scenic locations to see. If you, like me, love a good run through an unfamiliar city, check out these spots:

Harborwalk

(43-mile choose your own adventure)

Given  the body of water closest to my current city is the Potomac River, it never ceases to excite me to be back near the ocean. The near-continous 43-mile public walkway, The Boston Harborwalk, connects the city’s neighborhoods with one another. Whether you go for a run, walk, or bike it, the Harborwalk is one of the prettiest routes you can take. Stop along the way for a drink, snack, or to pet that cute dog over there.

Seaport → Boston Common

(3-5-mile run)

Did you know the big gold dome atop the Massachusetts State House was painted black during WWII? Ask me why. If you run through the Common today, you’ll catch a glimpse of the state house back in its shiny, gold glory. This is an easy route, even for non-locals. Start on Summer St. in the Seaport and continue until you see green. If you stop at the Common and turn around, this is a ~3-mile run. Feeling ambitious? Run the perimeter of the Common and back for a run totaling ~5 miles.

Seaport → Beacon Hill

(~5.4-mile run)

Can’t stop in the nation’s capital on your way back home from INBOUND? Boston’s got you covered with the Washington Monument Jr., AKA the Bunker Hill Monument. If you want to get in touch with your Italian roots, follow this route past the North End to make it over to Beacon Hill and back. This run will take you ~5.4 miles round-trip and if you get hungry halfway through, you can stop at Mike’s Pastry or Regina’s Pizza for a snack to tide you over.

Livin’ in a gym rat’s paradise

Cardio isn’t for everyone, and I’ve made my peace with the fact that I’m never running the Boston Marathon. Thankfully, for the gym buffs and competitive workout class aficionados among us, you’re sure to find the perfect spot to get your sweat on in the Seaport:

Equinox

27 Northern Ave, Boston, MA 02210

(13-min walk from BCEC)

Are you an INBOUND attendee who has an Equinox membership? Color me impressed (and very jealous). For those of you living the luxury lifestyle already, you can catch a class and lather yourselves in Kiehl’s products before a full day of sessions at INBOUND 2023.

Wave Health

1 Seaport Ln, Boston, MA 02210

(7-min walk from BCEC)

For those looking for a reliable spot to lift some weights or catch a yoga class before heading to a packed day of sessions, Wave Health is a great option. For $25, you can purchase a day pass from the gym and access a wide array of machines including Peloton bikes and an indoor pool. Guided classes more your jam? Check out Wave Health’s Barre and HIIT classes.

SoulCycle

101 Seaport Blvd, Boston, MA 02210

(10-min walk from BCEC)

Ever walk into a SoulCycle class expecting a leisurely bike ride and leave sorely mistaken (and also just sore)? Just me? Cool. To get your heart pumping and your legs jellied during your downtime in the Seaport, check out SoulCycle in the Seaport. Conveniently located right across the street is the Cisco Seaport Garden in case you need to replenish your liquids after breaking a sweat. 😉

[solidcore]

399 S Congress Street, Suite 2

(7-min walk from BCEC)

Solidcore is more than just a workout – it’s also a great way to question every decision you’ve ever made that landed you in a Solidcore class. Through low-impact, high-intensity resistance training, Solidcore challenges your muscles in ways you've never experienced before. Attending a Solidcore session means investing in your strength, both physically and mentally. Physically, you’ll work muscles that might not get a whole lot of love in your regular workouts. Mentally, if you can survive Solidcore, you can survive anything else your day throws at you.

Catch you at the finish line?

I’m excited to get some good workouts in while attending INBOUND 2023, but running around the Seaport with the coolest data-driven marketers in the world is enough to get my heart pumping. Be sure to swing by booth #38 and say hi to the Census team, enter our INBOUND e-bike raffle (in case you’re not feeling a strenuous workout), and pick up some cool swag.
